When I was 18 I found out I was expecting a beautiful baby boy, who we decided we were going to name Landon Oakley. I was over the moon excited to meet this new addition. But I was so sick. The term morning sickness is false advertising in my case, it was all day sickness. In fact, I was so sick I lost 20 pounds from not being able to keep any food down. I was put on medication in order to help me keep even just the smallest amount of water in my system.
We decided to have blood work done to predict any abnormalities because I was so scared something would be wrong because I had just suffered a miscarriage about 2 months before we found out I was pregnant with Landon. When I got the call from the doctor and I heard the words “you are having a beautiful HEALTHY baby BOY” my heart sang to heaven and back! I decided that day his name would be “Landon Oakley”
When I was about 33 weeks pregnant my hands and feet started to swell. My hand swelling went down but my legs and feet just got bigger and bigger. I also had really bad high blood pressure. My doctor just kept telling me that much swelling was normal at this stage in pregnancy. I wish I would have gotten a different doctor and went with my gut feeling something was wrong. I went all the way to 37+6 days with little Landon with preeclampsia. I was diagnosed once I was admitted to the hospital because they were going to induce me.
I was sitting in the delivery room for hours and I stopped progressing at 8 cm. So my doctor decided to perform a c-section. How can a state licensed doctor choose to intimidate you by calling it an emergency playing with your emotions and your child’s safety? I just want to wring his neck.
Moral of the story, Always trust your momma instinct, believe in yourself and never let your doctor intimidate you because of his medical position.
